Photron, the world's leading manufacturer of high speed digital imaging systems is pleased to announce the launch of the FASTCAM SA-X digital imaging system. The FASTCAM SA-X provides mega-pixel resolution (1,024 H x 1,024 V) to 12,500 frames per second (fps) and higher frame rates at reduced resolution by employing Variable ROI. The FASTCAM SA-X delivers our best ever image quality and through technically advanced pixel design more than doubles its light sensitivity compared to the previous generation of sensor having the same 20µm square pixel size. This combination of image quality, light sensitivity and 12-bit dynamic range makes the FASTCAM SA-X the perfect choice for the most demanding applications in research and industry - in particular Fluid Dynamics, Solid Mechanics, Combustion Research and Defence.

The Fastcam SA-X is available with four on-board memory options;

• 8GB, providing 5.4 seconds record time at 1,000 fps full resolution.
• 16GB for over one second at 10,000 fps.
• 32GB giving 2.18 seconds at full resolution, 10,000 fps.
• 64GB provides just under 3.5 seconds at 12,500 fps full 1K x 1K resolution.

Recorded data can be reviewed and archived instantly via either of two HD-SDI digital video outputs, or downloaded to PC using a novel dual Gigabit Ethernet connection. The combination of this fast download of data with the ability to simultaneously record your next event improves the work rate of the system.
