Cameras
Photron's wide range of innovative and highly light sensitive, high speed digital video cameras are ideal for research and development (R&D), medical research, industrial, food and beverage, pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging, automotive testing, production line fault finding, automotive crash testing, TV and motion picture studios, and military test range and ballistic applications. The ever-growing Photron family includes:
- High-resolution CMOS stand-alone cameras for simple us in the field or factory
- Mega pixel CMOS PCI systems for use in a PC
- Low-cost CCD in stand-alone or PCI format for use in a PC
- High-G (hyge) mega-pixel cameras for onboard vehicle crash or military ballistics testing
- Intensified cameras for flame and combustion studies
Widely used for slow-motion analysis of fast-occurring events, digital imagers are replacing high speed film cameras as an effective means to study ultra-high speed phenomena or to troubleshoot costly industrial problems. Practical applications include food and beverage production; computer hard-drive studies; component pick-and-place operations; automotive assembly, testing and racing; pharmaceutical packaging, R&D and biomechanical studies.
Along with Photron's advanced technical engineering, we offer highly skilled technical assistance for custom video applications.
There is a high speed Photron product for every application, including:
- Ultima APX with mega-pixel operation up to 3,000 frames per second (fps). Both the processor and tethered CMOS head are shock-tested to withstand 100 Gs.
- Ultima 512 is the ideal solution for users requiring a highly compact and lightweight camera system tested to work in high-G environments with full resolution up to 2,000 fps.
- Ultima APX-RS is the world's fastest video camera with 3,000 mega pixel frames per second (fps) or 250,000 fps at reduced resolution
- FASTCAM-X 1024 PCI is the first system to bring mega-pixel CMOS to your personal computer at usable speeds; capable of operating as fast as 1,000 fps at full 1,024 by 1,024 pixel resolution, or 109,500 fps through ‘windowing', All cameras offer the ability to operate as part of a network of cameras and offer a wide range of powerful communications including FireWire, Ethernet, or Fiber optics.
- Ultima APX-i2 uses a 25mm MCP Gen II image intensifier, directly bonded onto the APX's mega pixel sensor to provide unmatched image quality with 20ns gating, the intensified head is interchangeable with ‘regular' APX color or monochrome camera heads for real flexibility.
Beyond high speed video, Photron's Primatte produces a line of products for the motion-picture industry. Bluescreen and greenscreen processes and chromakey allow the user to create special movie effects (SFX) through Photoshop or other computer graphics/compositing software.
